03 November, 2005. New Orleans, Louisiana. Post Katrina.
Merrick Cemetery, St Bernard Parish just outside New Orleans, Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. FEMA contractors are still removing coffins from the graveyard destroyed by the storm. Merrick cemetery was one of the earliest slave cemeteries in the south and was deluged by 20ft of flood water. Just beyond the smashed cemetery a cruise ship is moored alongside the Mississippi River, housing hundreds of recovery workers.
