• March 6th,2006. New Orleans, Louisiana. Six months after hurricane Katrina devasted the Lower 9th Ward, recovery work, slow and sometimes grim, continues at what appears to be a snail's pace. Volunteer Chaplains from Victim Relief in Texas perform a simple ceremony over the remains of a resident of the Lower 9th Ward discovered in a house. The house had previously been searched and a body removed, however it appears the initial removal process missed some of the remains which were today placed in a plastic bag and taken away by the coroners office.

His house was destroyed by the deluge when the levee breached just blocks from the steps. Robert lost his mother and another grand daughter at the house when they perished in the terrible flooding. He lost hold of his grand daughter in the swirling floods. She was drowned. His mother was not found for 4 months when her skeleton was discovered in what remained of his washed away house. • March 8th, 2006. New Orleans, Louisiana. Six months after hurricane Katrina devasted the Lower 9th Ward, recovery work begins with the clearing of roads and debris by private contractors. And still, six months after hurricane Katrina, many roads remain blocked by houses and their contents spilled into the roads where they came to rest as the water swept through.
A clock lies amidst the rubble of someone's former living room on North Tonti Street. The clock, stopped at ten minutes to ten on the morning hurricane Katrina smashed the house from its foundations moving it halfway into the street.

 • 20 August 2006 - New Orleans - Louisiana. Lower 9th ward. Jerome Benjamin (with weed-eater) and Louis Banks (mower) work to reign in the weeds at an abandoned Lower 9th ward property with flood grime thick on the windows, thick on everything that belongs to an elderly lady the men know as 'Grandma.' Everyone knew 'Grandma,' they say. Her real grandson was supposed to come by and get the gutted home ready for sale. He never showed up. The neighbourhood is deserted. It is hard to imagine anyone living here ever again.

Second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The empty streets of the largely derelict and decimated Lower 9th Ward. The area remains mostly abandoned and overgrown, ghostly reminders of lives that once were. President Bush came to town and claimed he could be proud of what local and federal government have achieved in the city. Yet two years after the storm, it is quite clear that local and federal government are failing and have a great deal to do to live up their promises.
Second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. President Bush visited a high school less than a mile from the still demolished Alfred Lawless High School in the Lower 9th Ward. Bush posed for photo opportunities at a newly rebuilt high school, yet close by the ghostly remains of another high school show how so many have been left behind. The area remains mostly abandoned and overgrown. President Bush came to town and claimed he could be proud of what local and federal government have achieved in the city.
