• 27 August 2006 - New Orleans - Louisiana. Reggie Bush - Superdome. Bush is interviewed by HBO's sportscaster Bob Costas. Bush, the New Orleans Saints record breaking new purchase at almost $62million takes a walk around the the 'pitch' area for the very first time. Almost a year ago to the day the Superdome started filling up with people seeking shelter from hurricane Katrina. The superstar running back was visibly moved as he toured the facility, still awaiting a new pitch ahead of its scheduled Sept 25th re-opening.

Vanishing wetlands. Where once there was land, there is only the mere outline of old canals and channels, many dug by oil companies to pump their product ashore with little regard to the effects the chopping up of the wetlands would have. Chronic erosion of the land, a football pitch every 50 minutes, greatly reduced protection from hurricanes and impending BP oil slicks is the direct result of mismanagement and utter disregard for the environment. The army corps of engineers and the oil companies, together with inept government have a great deal to answer for.
View from a blackhawk helicopter flown by airmen of the Nebraska Air National Guard over southern Louisiana as they assist in the dumping of sand bags onto barrier islands in a vain attempt to prevent BP oil from getting into the inner wetlands. As valiant as their efforts are, the dumping of sand bags may well prove to be a complete waste of manpower, resources and money. Meanwhile, the mighty Mississippi river runs straight out to sea nearby, her valuable land building sediment carried far out into deep ocean as the region struggles to find a way to reverse the disastrous effects of man's interference with her flow.
• 13 July 2006 - New Orleans - Louisiana. Christian Volunteers. Group Workcamps Foundation (GWF). Carrolton United Methodist Church. Groups of around 100 Christian affiliated church kids of predominantly high school age come from all across the USA to the city for a 5 day week where they put in an average of 2,080 hours of community service as they volunteer to gut, clean and rebuild houses for residents in Katrina ravaged parts of New Orleans. The kids and their carers live in an old church Uptown where they sleep in segregated dormitories and all pitch in in a communal atmosphere. Kids celebrate the end of their week together and mess around in one of their dormitories on the last night of their trip. GWF, formed in 1976, based in Loveland, Colorado organises religious missions volunteering in disaster recovery at no charge to residents. The city would not be rebuilt without their help. They are a Godsend to those they help and are greatly appreciated for all that they do for those they help.
